Botanical Sciences is the scientific journal of the Botanical Society of Mexico (Sociedad Botánica de México). The journal published original contributions in all fields of Botany, including biogeography, biotic interactions, conservation, economic botany, ecophysiology, ecology, ecological restoration, ecosystem management, embryology, ethnobotany, floristics, molecular systematics, physiology, phytochemistry, phytopathology, paleobotany, palynology, structural botany, taxonomy (including description of new species and monographs), among others. Botanical Sciences publishes contributions in Spanish and English.

The board of editors encompasses scholars representing the main fields of botanical sciences. Scientific quality is guaranteed by strict peer-review by a broad range of national and international referees. Accepted contributions are original research papers, short communications (no longer than two printed pages that it is not intended for publication of preliminary results), and review papers that contribute to the development of Botany as a science
