Abstract
This paper presents the results of the implementation of a fault detection scheme in temperature sensors using second order sliding mode observers. The implementation of fault detection system was developed in a double pipe heat exchanger with counter-current flows. Also it was developed a monitoring system which shows the thermodynamic process operation, where detection and troubleshooting is applied.
Keywords: fault detection, second order sliding mode observes, heat exchanger.
