Abstract

TRUEBA CESAR, Jaime. Freedom, Irrationalism and Splitting: In The Footsteps of F. Dostoievsky in Zamiatin’s Novel We. Acta poét [online]. 2023, vol.44, n.1, pp.179-200.  Epub Mar 10, 2023. ISSN 2448-735X.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ap.2023.44.1.005735x27.

Considered by many to be the foundational work of the dystopian gender, the novel We, by Evgueni Zamyatin, perspire in every moment many of F. Dostoevsky’s criticisms of revolutionary utopias and Western institutions. Therefore, we have set out to trace some features and characters of Dostoevsky’s work that can be found in We, specifically focusing on three characters from the Muscovite’s pen: the Grand Inquisitor, the man from the underground and the double.

Keywords : Zamyatin; Dostoievsky; Freedom; Irrationalism; Splitting.
