During the first decade of the Twentieth century, right before the Mexican Revolution, some Jesuits had a sociopolitical project. What extent of these Jesuit priests’ political implication in that first part of the Revolution? In this work, I expose how Francisco I. Madero confronted this project at the beginning of the Mexican Revolution and I display the sociopolitical alternatives started by the Jesuits after the murder of Madero. The center topic on this essay are three fundamental lines: the implementation of Social Catholicism in Mexico, prompted by Catholic hierarchy; social Catholicism as a way to crystalize the Christian Democracy’s doctrine; and the role played by the Society of Jesus as a linking network, which organized the many catholic militants’ efforts throughout the country. As an example of the sociopolitical action taken by the Jesuits during such stage of the Revolution, one could name the forming of the Catholic National Party.
