Abstract

PUENTES-CALA, Mauricio. Questioning Independence: Towards a Conceptualization of the Patrimonialized Landmark of Colombian Foundational History. Hist. graf [online]. 2021, n.57, pp.177-222.  Epub July 03, 2021. ISSN 1405-0927.  https://doi.org/10.48102/hyg.vi57.348.

This work constitutes a direct criticism to the evasion of the theorization of the problems of historical analysis and to the conventional interpretations of recent studies that have emptied the understanding of Colombian foundational events. Through three fundamental objectives, the work seeks: first, to question the historiographical relaxation that has existed when conceptualizing the name given to the threshold years of national history, in connection with the official patrimonialization of a collective memory. The second aim is to historicize the term Independence to understand how and why this term emerged as a liberal political concept, as well as how it was configured and used in the varied neo-Granada autonomist rhetoric. Finally, the analysis tries to signify and outline the concept of Independence.
