Abstract

CAMACHO-DE ANGULO, Yineth Viviana  and  OVIEDO-BARRERO, Fernando. Numerical modeling for the determination of the maximum flood elevation in La Ensenada de Utría, from Playa de Diego to Ciudad El Valle-Chocó. Ing. invest. y tecnol. [online]. 2023, vol.24, n.4, 1910.  Epub Nov 28, 2023. ISSN 2594-0732.  https://doi.org/10.22201/fi.25940732e.2023.24.4.029.

This study aims to calculate the mean regime and maximum flood elevation, under normal conditions, in La Ensenada de Utría-Chocó, integrating bathymetric and coastline information, and the representative geomorphological changes that converge in coastal dynamics. For this purpose, the H2D hydrodynamic model was used to simulate and analyze 19 tidal years. As a result, tidal harmonics were obtained for seven synthetic tide nodes, located along the study area, with depths less than 15 m, which were inputs for the calculation of the mean regime and maximum flood elevations. The H2D model was calibrated and validated with a R2 0.9879 for the tide gauge located in Bahía Solano (06.2328 N, 77.4109 W). The values of mean regime and maximum flood elevation were generated, showing an average maximum elevation of 4.3075 m.a.s.l., this information is important to Dirección General Marítima makes the jurisdiction layout allowing the exercise with property control of public use goods.
