HURTADO SOLER, Amparo; TALAVERA ORTEGA, Marta  and  ROCA PEREZ, Luis. Education for peace and equality in teacher training. Innov. educ. (Méx. DF) [online]. 2019, vol.19, n.79, pp.123-144. ISSN 1665-2673.

An educative cooperation project developed at the University of Valencia (Spain) for teacher training is depicted. The main goal of the project is to promote education for peace and equality through experiences, which are put into Huerta de Valencia social context. Based upon life experiences with women and immigrants, supportive activities related to curricular training and knowledge transfer are developed in order to build teaching skills focused on social and coexistence issues. Furthermore, the role of higher education in building peace culture is analyzed. The results show that these sorts of actions promote student participation and increase both student’s social commitment and knowledge building by integrating servicelearning methodology and non-formal education to the curriculum.
