RUBIO VIZCAYA, Sara Ximena. Kaleidoscopic views on intellectual disability. Andamios [online]. 2022, vol.19, n.49, pp.21-43. Epub June 05, 2023. ISSN 2594-1917. https://doi.org/10.29092/uacm.v19i49.918.
This article reflects on the ways in which intellectual disability is socially produced from our everyday interactions, considering the results of an ethnographic research developed in the city of La Plata, Argentina. If the Critical Disability Studies focus on dialogues in which amplifies the first voice and situated experiences of people with disabilities, then it is necessary to investigate: What dialogues people with intellectual disabilities propose about their own experiences and how they and their families position themselves in relation to the discourses that appoints them? The article argues how people with intellectual developmental disorders manage to debate the rational bases of the classification and nomination processes in the field of disability.
