Abstract
BECERRA OLMOS, Juana Isabel Yuliana and GARCIA CAMPOS, Tonatiuh. Prosociality Scale according to Level of Closeness: Validation in Guanajuato Population. Acta de investigación psicol [online]. 2023, vol.13, n.1, pp.53-63. Epub Nov 10, 2023. ISSN 2007-4719. https://doi.org/10.22201/fpsi.20074719e.2023.1.477.
Prosocial behavior refers to all behaviors that are intended to help another person, institution, or cause. Its study can be used as a protective factor against disruptive behaviors (Auné et al., 2014; Correa, 2017; Richaud & Mesurado, 2016). Therefore, a scale that measures this construct and also discriminates between prosocial behavior towards close people and people who are not, is relevant. The objective of the present study was to evaluate the psychometric characteristics of the Prosociality Scale according to the level of closeness (EPNC by its acronym in Spanish) in the adult population of Leon, Guanajuato Mexico. 323 people participated (M= 32.52, SD= 11.73), men and women between 18 and 60 years old. The results yielded adequate Cronbach's alpha values (.902); through a maximum likelihood factor analysis with orthogonal rotation (varimax), four factors were obtained that together explain 46.012% of the variance. A KMO of .888 was obtained and the Bartlett sphericity test with a value of 3278.753, p < 0.000. These results conclude that the scale has evidence of construct validity and reliability to be applied in the adult population of Guanajuato.
