Abstract

HAIDAR, Julieta. The Forgotten Dimension in Studies on Platform Work: The Subjectivity of Workers. Estud. sociol [online]. 2024, vol.42, e2336.  Epub May 24, 2024. ISSN 2448-6442.  https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2024v42.e2336.

Currently, one of the most analysed topics in the field of labour relations are labour platforms. However, at the moment, the dimension of workers’ subjectivity, i.e., the processes of configuration of meaning in concrete situations, has not been studied in depth. This article aims to contribute to fill that gap, by identifying what are the meanings constructed by platform workers concerning their work and the collective organizations. Also, it aims to understand how these senses are configured, what dimensions intervene and how are they connected in their configuration. To this effect, we analyse the case of delivery platform workers in the city of Buenos Aires. We apply a multidimensional analytic framework and combine quantitative and qualitative methods.

Keywords : platform work; subjectivity; meanings; delivery workers; Argentina.
