Abstract
ASSUSA, Gonzalo and RODRIGUEZ DE LA FUENTE, José Javier. Not All of Us Are Middle Class. Subjective Stratification in Contemporary Argentina. Estud. sociol [online]. 2024, vol.42, e2540. Epub May 24, 2024. ISSN 2448-6442. https://doi.org/10.24201/es.2024v42.e2540.
This article builds explanatory models to explore the subjective positioning of social class in Argentina, offering new insights and lines of analysis within the context of historical development of these trends. Our analyses draw on data from the World Values Survey and the National Survey of the Social Structure of Argentina and Public Policies during the Covid-19 pandemic. Our primary findings include a reasonable degree of objective alignment between social class positioning and subjective identification. However, this alignment is mediated by the prevailing political and economic contexts, resulting in various symbolic repertoires of class images.
