Abstract

SANCHEZ-RAMOS, Jorge A. et al. Paracentral acute middle maculopathy associated with prepapillary vascular loops. Rev. mex. oftalmol [online]. 2022, vol.96, n.6, pp.263-266.  Epub Apr 10, 2023. ISSN 2604-1227.  https://doi.org/10.24875/rmo.m21000168.

Objective:

To describe a clinical case that associates paracentral acute middle maculopathy and prepapillary vascular loops.

Case report:

This is a 42-year-old woman presenting a lower paracentral scotoma of the right eye with a visual acuity of 20/25. On physical examination, the presence of prepapillary venous loops is observed. Multimodal imaging studies and optical coherence tomography identify the affected macular area, with focal atrophy of the retina.

Conclusion:

Paracentral acute middle maculopathy may be secondary to several retinal vascular alterations. To the best of our knowledge, there are no previous reports that describe the association between paracentral acute middle maculopathy and prepapillary vascular loops.

Keywords : Paracentral acute middle maculopathy; Prepapillary vascular loops.
