Abstract

SEOANE, José. Exemplification in Lógica viva. Crítica (Méx., D.F.) [online]. 2022, vol.54, n.162, pp.3-27.  Epub May 05, 2023. ISSN 0011-1503.  https://doi.org/10.22201/iifs.18704905e.2022.1381.

Vaz Ferreira’s Lógica viva (1910) is considered an original contribution to logical reflection, its relevance has recently been emphasized, for example, by Vega Reñón (2013 and 2019). Lógica viva can be interpreted as the foundation, exposition and partial implementation of a program of logical inquiry, which encourages a rereading of traditional content and an expansion of the traditional list of paralogisms (Seoane 2019b). It intends to intertwine pedagogical and logical innovation. From this point of view, the contrast between his style of exemplifying and the usual style of logic manuals is key. The purpose of this paper is to interpret Lógica viva’s exemplification policy.

Keywords : informal logic; paralogisms; fallacies; error; Vaz Ferreira.
