Abstract

GARCIA-SANCHO, Cecilia et al. Effect of influenza A H1N1 infection in pregnant women and infants in 2009: Review of the literature. Neumol. cir. torax [online]. 2014, vol.73, n.2, pp.150-158. ISSN 0028-3746.

The objective of this review was to determine if influenza AH1N1 (pandemic) in 2009 had an impact on the health of pregnant women and newborn. The review showed an association between influenza AH1N1 and a higher risk of hospitalization, admission to intensive care unit (ICU) and death in pregnant women; and low birth weight, premature birth and mortality in the newborn. Immunization against pandemic influenza virus in pregnant women is easy to perform and prevent damage to the health of women and infants.

Keywords : pregnancy; influenza; mortality; neonate; influenza AH1N1-2009.
