Abstract

GARCIA-BOHORQUEZ, Diego F; FAJARDO-RIVERO, Javier E  and  VILLABONA-RUEDA, Andrés F. Congenital bronchial atresia: A case series in the adult population of Colombia. Neumol. cir. torax [online]. 2019, vol.78, n.3, pp.304-309.  Epub Feb 12, 2021. ISSN 0028-3746.

Bronchial atresia is a rare pathology, which tends to be asymptomatic and incidental in the images of the thorax, and rarely it can compromise the life of those who suffer it. The diagnostic approach of the disease is made by radiography or scanography, where is possible to identify some important aspects in the differential diagnosis. According to the clinic spectrum and the risk of future complications, the bronchial atresia treatment is defined with modalities that range from conservative management to segmental resection, or wedge resection of the affected lung. We present three cases attended in the outpatient of pneumology, where most of them were detected incidentally.

Keywords : Congenital anomaly; bronchial atresia; hyperinflation; mucocele.
