Abstract

RESPALDIZA-PULIDO, Cristina; CALLEJA-GERO, María Lourdes; SIRVENT-CERDA, Sara Inmaculada  and  BASCUAS-ARRIBAS, Marta. Infant with unilateral pulmonary obstruction. Rev. mex. pediatr. [online]. 2021, vol.88, n.6, pp.254-255.  Epub Aug 15, 2022. ISSN 0035-0052.  https://doi.org/10.35366/105429.

We present the radiological image of a 14-month-old infant who required hospital admission for acute bronchitis. Due to the persistence of the symptoms and asymmetry in the pulmonary auscultation, a chest X-ray was taken, in which hyperinflation of the right lung and partial atelectasis of the middle lobe were observed. These findings suggested aspiration of a foreign body, which was verified when the patient expelled it spontaneously, and the symptoms disappeared.

Keywords : Foreign body aspiration; respiratory distress; infant.
