Abstract

Objective:
To describe the prevalence and trends of physical activity (PA) in children and adolescents from Ensanut 2012 and Ensanut MC 2016.
Materials and methods:
Physical activity levels were obtained from the Health Behaviour in School-aged Children (HBSC) and the nternational Physical ActivityI (IPAQ) questionnaires for children and adolescents respectively.
Results:
More than 80% of the children and 35% of the adolescents in Mexico do not meet the PA recommendations. From 2012-2016, girls and schoolchildren in the rural area showed an increase in participation in organized activities and sports.
Conclusion:
The prevalence of PA is low in children and adolescents and the trend has not improved in the last six years.
