The limitations and insufficiencies of the classical model of democracy have provoked uncertainty in the use of concepts that are fundamental in contemporary political science. A series of theories and ideas that seem extreme and irreconcilables have been produced. It is for this reason that the author seeks to describe the classical model of democracy in order to contrast it with new theoretical concepts, such as elitism, new right, and neo-pluralism. With this discussion, we will be able to find the analytic paradigms that have influenced contemporary schools of thought, with the aim of identifying the methodological obstacles that political scientists have to face when constructing their theories.
