Abstract

The essay attempts to provide an overview of the main problems of Constitutional reforms in Mexico, to participate in the discussion of this interesting issue and to propose solutions to overcome those problems. The topics covered in this essay are as follows: the different systems that Mexico has known to amend its constitution; the constitutional amendments; the scope of the amendment procedure in the current constitution; if it is possible to reform the Constitutional review institution; the exceptional procedures for amendment in Mexico; if the Constitutional Court has the control of the "constitutionality" of a constitutional amendment; the discussion respect to whether the Mexican Constitution has been amended very often; the classification of these amendments; an attempt to balance these reforms; the constitutional custom; the constitutional interpretation; and the proposal of referendum on any constitutional amendment.
