Abstract
PENA AZCONA, Ivett; GOMEZ UGALDE, Rosa María and BRIONES-SALAS, Miguel. New records of the Central American tapir Tapirus bairdii in the Tehuantepec district, Oaxaca, Mexico. Acta Zool. Mex [online]. 2015, vol.31, n.1, pp.120-122. ISSN 2448-8445.
We show evidence of the presence of the Central American tapir in the communal lands of the natural conservation area called Cerro de las Flores, in the District of Tehuantepec, Oaxaca, Mexico. Skull and skeletal remains (limbs bones) were found in September 2008, faeces and footprints were observed from December 2008 to February 2009. This work extends the distribution of this species 93 km west of the recent record.
