The formal changes that the new Constitution brought to Colombia in 1991 imply institutional adjustments and the internalization of the new principles by all citizens. Recognizing and valuing the rights of indigenous peoples, and making their authorities part of the judicial branch brings up positive actions that reaffirm the constitutional mandates in spite of the continuing presence of a colonial, monistic and ethnocentric model that is not yet gone. Showing the presence of one model and the other through reflection and real cases is the purpose of this document.
