Abstract

CALDERON RIVERA, Edith. Universos emocionales y subjetividad. Nueva antropol [online]. 2014, vol.27, n.81, pp.11-31. ISSN 0185-0636.

In this article the author proposes the affective dimension plays a key role in culture since it allows for a bond between the psychic, individual and social to be built. It is also useful for naming commonly known terms such as emotions, passions, feelings and affections; altogether they form groups that must be seen as symbols that lead to culture-regulated exchanges. This is the reason why the affective dimension must be considered a starting point for approaching emotional universes and subjectivity in the field of anthropology. What place do feelings occupy in social and intimate everyday life? Are the descriptions of emotional experiences enough to make an anthropology of emotions? Is it important to create new anthropological methodologies for studying emotional universes? These are some of the questions that are answered in this article.

Keywords : culture; subjectivity; emotions.
