Abstract

RUIZ GOMEZ, Sonia E.  and  ORELLANA OJEDA, Miguel A.. Damping factors for displacement spectra of systems with hysteretic energy dissipaters. Ing. sísm [online]. 2021, n.105, pp.31-58.  Epub Oct 04, 2021. ISSN 0185-092X.  https://doi.org/10.18867/ris.105.542.

A methodology based on a probabilistic analysis is proposed and applied to estimate damping factors (F md ) that modify the elastic displacement spectrum. The F md take into account the energy dissipation of the hysteretic devices, as well as the seismic hazard of the site where the structures are located. Non-Linear and linear time-history analyses are carried out for single-degree-of-freedom systems equipped with energy-dissipation devices (dual S1GDL) and conventional S1GDL, respectively. The influence of the different design parameters and soil characteristics on the F md factors, is shown. Mathematical expressions are obtained for F md ; these depend on the vibration period of the structure, the characteristics of the structure-dissipater system and the type of soil (firm, intermediate or soft) in which the structural systems are located. The proposed expressions are useful for preliminary seismic design, based on the displacement control of structural systems equipped with hysteretic dissipaters, located in Mexico City.
