Abstract

MANSILLA, H. C. F.. La cultura política en Bolivia: La posibilidad del populismo autoritario. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2010, n.21, pp.181-202. ISSN 0185-1616.

There are few researches on Bolivian political culture, this phenomenon has caused little impact on Bolivian intellectuals. The main points of the Bolivian political culture and mentality arise from colonial times. They have suffered of course many alterations; the most important one has been caused by the modernization process in the second half of the 20th century. But the leading features of that culture are still alive: authoritarianism, paternalism and centralism, on the one side, and the poor, slow, inefficient, and complicated functioning of the state bureaucracy, on the other.

Keywords : anomie; authoritarianism; centralism; paternalism; cultural traditions.
