Abstract

BARCENA JUAREZ, Sergio A.. The role of legislative committees in the House of Representatives during the Mexican presidentialism. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2012, n.26, pp.131-160. ISSN 0185-1616.

The presidential regime's operating conditions -through a rigid corporative structure and a set of practices that inhibited an effective pluralism or professionalization-, hindered the committees' possibilities to affect national politics. This meant that committees would mainly work to ensure that presidential bills would make their way to the floor, as well as being institutionalized bargaining arenas between the executive branch and the recognized groups within the official party.

Keywords : Mexican presidencialism; Mexican Chamber of Deputies; legislative committees; Executive.
