Abstract

LOPEZ LEYVA, Miguel Armando. The Reformist Episode in Mexico (2012-2014): Exploring the Reasons for Change in the Second Alternation. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2015, n.35, pp.61-85. ISSN 0185-1616.

The article aims to provide an explanation of successful negotiation and approval of reforms in the early years of presidency of Enrique Peña Nieto (2012-2018). This "reformist episode" can be understood because of the combination of three important elements: a) the political context in which the new government took power, b) the mechanism for negotiating with political parties, and c) the internal dynamics of parties as a result of the electoral process in 2012.

Keywords : democracy; government; reforms; institutional change; alternation.
