Abstract

SANCHEZ MARTINEZ, José Said. Congress and Budget Policy in Estado de Mexico, 1986-2014. Estud. polít. (Méx.) [online]. 2018, n.43, pp.137-162. ISSN 0185-1616.

Subnational studies have pointed out the huge power of the governors and the weakness of the congresses on the budget policy design. Nevertheless, it is necessary to provide evidence about the congress’s performance. Drawing on the Estado de Mexico’s congress, the purposes of this paper are: a) to show evidence about the budget power performance; b) to compare whether the government status has an effect on the congress behavior; and c) to know the amendment’s impact on the budget policy.

Keywords : local congress; budget policy; government status; committees; divided government.
