Abstract

AGUILAR PIEDRA, Raúl. Tradición y cambio en la museología costarricense: dos momentos históricos. Cuicuilco [online]. 2008, vol.15, n.44, pp.37-58. ISSN 0185-1659.

Tradition and change are the signs which mark the development of contemporary museology. It is the dicotomy between the museum in relation to the collections and the museum in relation to its social background. Costa Rica has not been unaware of the influence of the prevailing museological trends. The National Museum and The Historical Cultural Museum Juan Santamaría, in their secular context, express the influence received from the traditional museology, and the social vocation in two different historical moments.

Keywords : museology; tradition; new; colectionism; National Museum; Juan Santamaría Museum; National Campaign.
