Abstract
AMADOR BECH, Julio. Figuras y narrativas míticas del símbolo: Del laberinto entre los o'odham, hopi y yuma. Cuicuilco [online]. 2009, vol.16, n.46, pp.221-252. ISSN 0185-1659.
In this article we study the origin of the man, in the maze symbol, and the mythical narratives that have been created on its behalf between the O'odham communities of Sonora and Arizona. For that purpose, we explore the diverse expressions that appear in the material culture, the social funcitons they play and their multiple meanings. The symbol and the narratives are confronted with the oral traditions compiled by several northamerican ethnologists in the beginnings of the Twentieth Century and with similar examples of the rock art of the Hopi and Yuma.
Keywords : Symbol; maze; o'odham myths.
