Abstract

BECERRIL TELLO, Merit Nefernefer. Alcances y limitaciones del método etnográfico aplicado al estudio de la cultura de los grandes simios en cautiverio. Cuicuilco [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.50, pp.55-77. ISSN 0185-1659.

Culture has been the essential issue of anthropological research, however cultural primatology take back the culture concept and ethnographic method to understand social relationships and material expressions of primates culture. This research begins questioning how anthropologist have been built culture concept through time, beside to discus if it's right how cultural primatologist's have been applied and take back this concept. Admitting the own constrains of ethnographic perspective use to study primate behavior unlike human primate. I propose an ethnographic report and anthropological style field notes achieved during field work with two captive gorillas in Chapultepec Zoo.

Keywords : anthropology; primatology; culture; gorilla; ethnography.
