Abstract
LOPEZ HERNANDEZ, Miriam and ECHEVERRIA GARCIA, Jaime. El cuerpo femenino en estado liminar: connotaciones entre los nahuas prehispánicos. Cuicuilco [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.50, pp.159-184. ISSN 0185-1659.
To understand the conceptions about the feminine Nahua body, the article begins by explaining three ideological evidences that construct the corporal image of human beings. These evidences are: 1. The anatomical and physiological differences of the human bodies; 2. Life/ death, and 3. Blood. Specifically, the connotations with respect to women in the state of passage -menstruation, pregnancy, birth and puerperium-, are explained because of the feminine blood involved in the moments of transition.
Keywords : female body; Nahuas; pregnancy; maternity; identity; menstrual blood.
