Abstract

HERRERA BAUTISTA, Martha Rebeca  and  MOLINAR PALMA, Patricia. Some reflections on the path of physical anthropology. Cuicuilco [online]. 2011, vol.18, n.52, pp.19-37. ISSN 0185-1659.

In our experience as students, researchers and academics in the field of physical anthropology, we have faced new topics in the construction of objects/ subjects of research and the use of methodologies that, while not so new in anthropology, the disciplinary field confronts the hegemonic scientific tradition of a quantitative nature, opening new paths of research into other aspects of the bio-psycho-emo sociocultural complexity from qualitative paradigms. The text unfolds in two parts, the first section recounts the experience of one of the authors in connection with carrying out, and how to carry out, physical anthropology. The second part relates the experience of those who subscribe to this point of view, specifically in relation to six axes practiced in the use of qualitative methodologies in the fields of anthropophysical knowledge.

Keywords : quantitative and qualitative methods; experiences; research; physical anthropology.
