Abstract

CASTRO IBARRA, José María. Itinerarios carreteros: La percepción espacio-temporal de los autotransportistas interestatales en México. Cuicuilco [online]. 2015, vol.22, n.63, pp.229-256. ISSN 0185-1659.

The interstate commercial drivers are specialized in driving cargo transport on the highways. Because of this, they are absent from their homes for long periods of time spent on the roads, or waiting for their trucks to be loaded or unloaded in different parts of the country; therefore, they live a life of constant mobility. The spatio-temporal perception of these drivers is strongly influenced by both the technological advances and the resulting working conditions that these changes produce; one can see how these drivers have a unique way of experiencing the time and space that make up their cultural world.

Keywords : mobility; itinerant highway community; commercial drivers; industrial nomadism; anchors; highways; spatio-temporal perception.
