Abstract

SOSA, Rogelio. Training the workforce and the early teaching of science and technology. Inv. Econ [online]. 1999, vol.59, n.229, pp.161-204. ISSN 0185-1667.

This paper deals with the problem posed by the challenges and the lack of any systematization in the teaching of science and technology at primary level; primary education being the only schooling most of the population receives before taking up employment. The impact and implications of the technological revolution are analized, a revolution which has left Mexico and other developing countries far behind. This shortfall will only be made up by a drastic change in sectorial policies, designed to promote the development of a new technology culture at local level that also has universal relevance, a culture that. permits an efficacious response to the new conditions in the division of labour, and to national integration into the global economy of our day. All of this, it goes without saying; needs to be approached from the viewpoint of the greatest good for the greatest number.
