Abstract

MARROQUIN ARREOLA, Juan  and  RIOS BOLIVAR, Humberto. Investment in Research and Economic Growth: An empirical analysis from the perspective of the models of R & D. Inv. Econ [online]. 2012, vol.71, n.282, pp.15-33. ISSN 0185-1667.

This document analyze for the case of Mexico the principal postulates of the models of growth based on R & D where one affirms that the innovation is created in the sector of research and development and that it allows an economic supported growth, providing that there are constant performances to the innovation in terms of research and development. The analysis uses panel data techniques and uses data on patents and R & D for 32 states of the Mexican republic. The results of our analysis support endogenous growth theory as it confirms a significant relationship between the stock of R & D and innovation and between innovation and Gross Domestic Product (DGP) per capita.

Keywords : innovation; patents; R & D; economic growth.
