Abstract

This essay deals with the value of the format of the presidential debates and is analyzed from the democratic viewpoint and the problems it acquires when it is mediatized in aspects such as showmanship, personification, fragmentation, simplicity, etc., as well as the advantages that said mediatization provides. In a second section, the author exposes the results of an analysis of the content applied to the two presidential debates that took place in the Mexican election of 2006, explaining the methodology applied and the findings that resulted from this.
