The proyect of Ladrón de Guevara about changing the location of many settlements of Nuevo Santander is an important document that shows the quarrels among the authorities of the novohispanic northeast due to political interests; in this case against the governor of the Colony, José de Escandón, by pretext of the viceroyal visita of José Tienda de Cuervo and the military engineer Agustín López de la Cámara Alta.
