Abstract

HERNANDEZ SOUBERVIELLE, Armando. The brotherhood of Santa Veracruz and the oldest architectural charts of San Luis Potosí: An example of novohispanic corporativism trough architecture. Estud. hist. novohisp [online]. 2014, n.51, pp.45-74. ISSN 2448-6922.

This article goes through three main axes. The first is to provide information from primary sources concerning the brotherhood of Santa Veracruz in San Luis Potosi. To present and analyze for the first time the oldest architectural planes (1620) of San Luis Potosi, which have hitherto remained unpublished. In light of these planes and their interpretation, their relationship with the architectural treatise of Sebastian Serlio is displayed, and thus we can establish how the classical language of architecture trough Serlio's models was part of the constructive repertoire of San Luis Potosi of the late sixteenth and early seventeenth century.

Keywords : brotherhood of Santa Veracruz; San Luis Potosí; architecture; Sebastian Serlio; ceturies XVI y XVII.
