Abstract

GUTIERREZ, Edgar O.. Juan Gassiot and his plan to increase population in Arizpe: A case of projectism in Sonora. Estud. hist. novohisp [online]. 2014, n.51, pp.75-106. ISSN 2448-6922.

This work analyzes a project that had the intention to attract new residents for the recently appointed capital of the Comandancia General of the Internal Provinces of New Spain. Its author was Juan Gassiot, officer of the mentioned Comandancia. This as a pretext to come closer to the intellectual and political atmosphere of XVIII century that motivated the enrichment of a particular gender of economic and political literature that criticized general or particular situations of the government and of their respective solutions proposals. This literary gender has been called "projectism", especially between Spaniard and Mexican historians.
