Abstract

PEREZ, Carmina. Life of a French dressmaker in the Hispanic world. Luisa de Dufresi, a mobility case in 18th century. Estud. hist. novohisp [online]. 2017, n.57, pp.61-78. ISSN 2448-6922.  https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ehn.2017.05.004.

In the Novohispanic society, where the masculine group had preponderance within the diverse public areas, mobility was a practice more common among the men, although it was also present in some womens' life. This article aims to rescue the story of a French woman to demonstrate a different perspective of this particular phenomenon. Through the analysis of her inquisitorial process, we try to understand her experience, the factors that led her to move through several geographic areas and the benefits - if there were any - that she may enjoyed thanks to it.

Keywords : Mobility; French people; Women; New Spain; 18th Century.
