Abstract

The following documents belong to diverse sections of the Archivo General de la Nación of Mexico. Basically, these sources concern to the jurisdictional conflicts caused by the use of ecclesiastical asylum, in regard to the criminal defendants. These records belong to the Bourbon period, characterized by the deep governmental changes established in the Spanish dependen cies in America. Furthermore, the mentioned documents concern to the geographical scope of Veracruz and Campeche, two port and crucial areas for the market exchanges in the Atlantic coasts. The jurisdictions involved in the conflicts showed in these records are the ecclesiastical and military authorities, the royal courts, also as the jurisdiction developed by the Colonial court of the Acordada.
