Abstract

The purpose of this article is to analyze the Brotherhood of the Virgin of Guadalupe, found-ed by the Indians of the Sanctuary of Tepeyac, in its capacity as corporate institution from 1678 to 1800. This association had the intention of integrating and organizing the Indians jurisdiction of the town of Guadalupe that not only congregated them for the liturgical celebrations, but also gave them the possibility to get a position in the civil government.
