In this article the author shows changes in the society and culture on the Maya of Yucatán in a general way. Supports the idea that globalization is an old process in Yucatan and that the international and market forces of the last two decades are only a new stage on that process; he also thinks that the main problems of the Maya are the poverty and the new meanings of the culture called modernization.
