Abstract

SOBRINO GOMEZ, Martín. Phonetic Description of Yucatecan Maya Tones. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2013, vol.41, pp.157-173. ISSN 0185-2574.

The porpouse of the paper is to analysis of the vowels of Yucatec Maya, as well as a phonetic description of the realizations of tones. First, short vowels are distinguished from long vowels, and then special attention is paid to long vowels which show phonological tones. Finally, some considerations about the tonal contrast are outlined.
