Abstract

MUMARY FARTO, Pablo Alberto. Anticipation of events in the narrative of the Kaan dynastic vases. Estud. cult. maya [online]. 2019, vol.53, pp.81-102. ISSN 0185-2574.  https://doi.org/10.19130/iifl.ecm.2019.53.964.

Known as Dynastic vases is a codex style ceramic type in which were registered hieroglyphic texts that show different listings of rulers associated with the Head Snake emblem glyph. Their narratives composed of complex signs, calendar dates that occasionally differ or are wrong and convoluted syntactic structures, make these vessels in a difficult element of study. At the present work, through an analysis of the 11 dynastic vases texts, will be show the “hidden” information that such vessels are protecting; this will allow us to propose new considerations related with the manufacture and the purpose of the Kaan’s dynastic texts.

Keywords : Dynastic vases; Kaan; Emblem Glyph; codex style ceramics; Calakmul.
