Abstract

The article describes the political-institutional process originated by the establishment of the jefaturas políticas system in Mexico, in the beginning of nineteenth century The principal legal classifications of the era -constitutions, decrees, organizational laws, etcetera- are analyzed as well as the political context that prevailed in the country during the decades of 1810 and 1820, factors both that sanctioned and propitiated the creation of a figure of centralizing character as that of political chief in the federal government founded by the Constitution of 1824.
