Abstract

PICHARDO HERNANDEZ, Hugo  and  MONCADA MAYA, José Omar. The Geographical Work of Antonio García Cubas at the Ministry of Finance, 1868- 1876. Estud. hist. mod. contemp. Mex [online]. 2006, n.31, pp.83-107. ISSN 0185-2620.

This article analyzes the work undertaken by Antonio García Cubas (1832-1912) in the years after 1867, during the period of the Restoration of the Republic. Between 1868 and 1876, the engineer worked at the Treasury and Public Finance Department, where he was in charge of drawing up fiscal statistics within the headquarters of Section 5 and prepared two administrative geographical maps that were extremely important at the time. Parallel to his activities as a government employee, he wrote articles on Mexican population and territory.
