Abstract

AVILA STORER, Alicia. Los profesores y sus representaciones sobre la reforma a las matemáticas. Perfiles educativos [online]. 2001, vol.23, n.93, pp.59-86. ISSN 0185-2698.

This article analyzes, beneath the concept of representation, the ideas that a group of Mexican teachers built on in an interview which was carried out seven years after the introduction in primary education of a constructivist reform in the field of mathematics. The ideas on which the reform was based generated representations that differed of the officially foreseen ones; and although the representations that are built are not homogeneous, the most important ones are the ideas of wise student and mathematics for life as factors that unify almost all of them; at the same time, notions such as activity or problem (this one as the axis of the reform) don't reach a clear definition in the teachers' mind.

Keywords : Social representation; Teachers; Educational reforms; Primary education; Mathematics.
