In this article is described some of the main results of the investigation Explanation forms in the teaching of the biology, in wich is been identified the existent relations between the explanations of the teachers of secondary education in the teaching of the biology and the alternative conceptions. The organization of the article comprehends four parts: the first part is make the theoretic precisions on the explanation in biology, in the second is refered to the investigation process realized, in the third is analysed the main explanation forms with respect to the respiration of the plants, and is settled the link between the explanation forms and the alternative conceptions. In the fourth is made a theoretic discussion with respect to the obtained results.
