Abstract

Cognitive processes are studied as cultural events from the perspective of current cognitive theory, particularly domains of thought theory, and their relation to knowledge structures. Integration of these categories constitutes itself a theoretical and methodological unit of analysis; this in turn allows conceiving cognition as an active, constructive element of context, rather than a passive recipient of unilateral, mechanistic, context influence. The analysis integrates interaction, discourse, argumentation and intertextuality to cognition, as dynamic elements in the educational context.
